Laos: Pak Ou Caves
The northern Laotian city of Luang Prabang is located along the mighty Mekong River, one of the largest rivers in Asia and the world. Taking out to the water on a cruise in a traditional long boat is a must-do here. The Mekong is wide and fast flowing, surrounding by the stunning karst hills all around. Mekong is the livelihood of Laos – the country’s topography is rough for overland roads, so the river is the main means of transportation. It’s also a tremendous source of food – Mekong is the second in biodiversity only to Amazon – and the mount of fish, shrimp, crabs, and so on taken out of it is staggering.
