Cesis is a beaturiful medieval town with a spectacular Cesis Castle towering in the middle of it and an equally impressive St. John’s Church.The Castle of Cesis was built in 1214 by the Livonian Order of the Brothers of Sword. You can climb both towers of the castle for panoramic views down on the town. St. John’s Church also dates to the 13th century and is actually the second largest basilica in Latvia after Riga.
