Lesotho: Central Highlands
Lesotho is the only country in the world lying entirely above 1000m/3000ft of elevation, and the bulk of the country is much higher – above 2000m/6000ft. The A5 road god straight into the heart of the country up to the mountain village of Semonkong – steadily climbing from the relatively low capital of Maseru up to almost 9000ft. It’s an absolutely stunning landscape of alpine green plateaus, rivers, and mountains as the road twists and turns higher and higher.
