Lesotho: Mohale Dam

Mohale Dam is the second largest dam in Lesotho (after Katse Dam) and part of a future project of building five large dams to generate and export hydroelectric power. The dam was completed in 2004, it’s 700m long and 145m high (making it one of the highest in Africa). The resulting water reservoir flooded several valleys and created a pictures lakes, although submerged 390 homes and some of the most fertile land in central Lesotho.
