Libya: Sinawin Castle

Driving further south across western Libya, we passed a small town of Sinawin and came across an attraction not listed in any guidebooks – the Sinawin Castle, also known as the Turkish Castle. Apparently, the castle was built during the Ottoman era, and later served various roles – as a military camp and garrison during the Italian occupation, and later as a police station in the post-1950s period. For the last 3 decades it is completely abandoned and slowly decaying.
