Libya: Tripoli – Fish Market

The Tripoli Fish Market is an absolutely insane sensory overload! It is located right at the edge of the Medina and is a total bustling hub for fresh seafood, reflecting Libya’s rich Mediterranean coastal location. There’s tons of fish here – sardines, anchovies, mackerel, sea bream, sea bass, red mullet, barracuda, amberjack and grouper; as well as shrimp, crabs, mussels, squid, and baby and large octopus; and even marlin! It’s a hectic place with a lot of selling and buying and there is also a separate area where your purchased fish is cleaned and deboned for you.
