Madagascar: Lemurs of Andasibe-Mantadia National Park
Some of the most beautiful and largest lemurs live in the wild at Antasibe-Mantadia National Parks: 10 species total, of which 5 are active during the daytime. In order of appearance in this post: (1) Diademed Sifaka – large white and gold lemurs, considered the most beautiful lemur, (2) Black-and-white Ruffed Lemur – second largest lemur with spectacular two tone coloring and very particular “ruffed” faces, this lemur is pictured on the 1000 ariairy banknotes, (3) Indri – the largest lemur in the world, they scream so loud that the sound travels for over 3km, they do not survive in captivity as they quit eating and just die, (4) Common Brown Lemur, and (5) Eastern Lesser Bamboo Lemur – small and rather timid lemurs.
