Madagascar: Palmarium Reserve – Nocturnal Lemurs
At Palmarim Reserve, we got to see three more species of nocturnal lemurs that we haven’t seen before – Brown mouse lemur, Eastern wooly lemur, and Greater dwarf lemur. Brown Mouse Lemur (Microcebus rufus) is smallest lemur and also the smallest primate, often seen foraging for fruit, nectar, and insects in the forest understory. They are super cute but very timid Eastern Woolly Lemur (Avahi laniger):l is medium-sized lemur with dense, soft fur, feeding on leaves, it’s also known as the “night indri”. Greater Dwarf Lemur (Cheirogaleus major) is Known for storing fat in its tail for hibernation, this lemur feeds on fruits, flowers, and small animals at night.
