Malawi: Fish Eagles in Action on Lake Malawi
A must-do tourist activity on Lake Malawi is to take a boat out onto the lake, buy a dozen small fish from a local fisherman in a dugout canoe, and then feed the fish eagles nesting on the tall tree all along the shore. As soon as the fish is thrown up in the air, the eagle takes off the nest or branch it’s sitting on and flies down to the fish, grabs it from the water, and then flies back. All of this – right in front of you, within just a few feet!
