Malawi: Majete NP – African Wild Dogs
African wild dogs are some of the rarest carnivore species in Africa and the world (it took me 10 years for looking for them before I had my first sighting in Zambia, second was in Tanzania, and this one here in Malawi was just third). The pack that lives in Majete is 14 dogs strong, and there are still rare to see. Unless they come to a waterhole and then decide to just lounge around it all day! Wild dogs are highly social animals, always staying in pack, and hunting in pack. Wild dogs are often called “painted wolves”, and they do indeed look like a mix of a wolf and a hyena then a dog. That being said , they are super cute and fun to watch!
