Malawi: Majete NP – Shire River
The Shire River is Malawi’s largest and most important river and it is central to the biodiversity and ecosystem of the Majete Wildlife Reserve. Flowing from Lake Malawi to the Zambezi River in Mozambique, it provides a water source for both wildlife and the surrounding environment and habitats. During the dry season, the Shire River becomes a magnet for wildlife, as it remains one of the few reliable water sources, and it’s here that you can see a lot of animals in the afternoon – elephants, antelopes, tons of hippos, lots of birds. The landscapes are also spectacular with lush forest and plenty of palm trees on the embankments. Great place for sunset gin & tonic!
