Malawi: Majete NP – Thawale Waterhole

Another good waterhole in the Majete Reserve is right at the Thawale Lodge in front of the main dining area. It’s a very large waterhole and gets a lot of animal traffic. Unlike many other african lodges, this one is not fenced at all, and absolutely all animals, including lions can freely roam around. We just sat around for hours, at breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and in between and watched the parade – impalas, baboons, warthogs, waterbucks, a large group of elands (the largest antelope on the world), nyalas,and more. And tons of birds!
