Mali: Kani Kombole Mosque in Dogon Country

The cherry on top from the Dogon Country was the village of Kani Kombole on the very edge of the escarpment and beneath the cliffs. An absolutely stunning mud mosque stands here in an almost surreal setting surrounded by massive baobabs, high cliffs in the background, and kids running around in the sand. The mosque is much smaller compared to Djenne but it is in absolutely pristine condition with many elaborate design details, including the ostrich eggs on the corners and stars with crescents. And the smiling and jumping kids leave the final the lasting impression of Mali!
