Marquesas/Nuku Hiva: Exploring the Northern Bays

The north of the island of Hiva Oa is cut by about a dozen spectacular bays of large crescents surrounded by towering mountains – Aakapa, Hatiheu, Aanapa, Teolotehue, Hatuatua, and other . There are equally stunning viewpoints, some requiring 4WD and/or steep hiking climbs but the views are worth it. At the bottoms of each bay’s valley lie small isolated villages surrounded by palm groves.
