Marquesas/Nuku Hiva: Taiohae

Taiohae is the main town in Nuku Hiva sitting a in a picturesque semicircle of a beautiful deep bay. The black sand beach curves along the entire town’s waterfront. There is also a site of an ancient Polynesian village with tiki statues and a spectacular Catholic Church. And on the far end of the bay stands a massive monument in the shape of a double tiki – a warrior and woman – it is the largest monument in the entire Pacific Ocean.
