Marquesas/Nuku Hiva: Too‘vi’i Plateau & Grand Canyon
Nuku Hiva island is divided into two distinct sides – the western side where all the population lives around several deep bays and valley, and the eastern side where the airport is located. In between, lies the Too’vi’i plateau at above 3000 feet and the immense Grand Canyon. Up on the top of the plateau, it feels like Switzerland rather then a tropical island – green pastures and pine forests. The panoramic views down into the valleys and canyons are superb and panoramic. The Tekao peak rises to 4012 feet and is the highest mountain in Marquesas.
