Mauritania: Terjit Oasis
Another spectacular oasis in the Adrar Plateau is the smaller Terjit Oasis. Stunning by lads apes of craggy mountains, dunes and a large date palm groove. This was is famous for the spring running at its core and a place to take a dip and relax in shade under the overhanging cliff. The greenery is in stark contrast with the yellows and reds of the Sahara. Terjit Oasis is one of the most beautiful and well-known oases in Mauritania. Terjit has historical importance as a traditional rest stop for caravans traveling through the Sahara Desert. It has been a gathering place for traders, travelers, and nomads for centuries.
