Mayotte: Ngouja Beach

This beach is the most beautiful on the entire island of Mayotte. On the southern tip of the island if Grand Terre, this beach is a wide 1/2km strip of fine sand sheltered on both ends by rocky promontories. But there’s more – the beachfront is studded with massive baobab trees; the mini-lagoon in front is filled with grazing turtles (just swim 20 meters and you are surrounded), the coral reef and the drop off is jut 150 meters further away. Add to this Mayotte lemurs everywhere begging for food and the flying fox bats flying above you even during the day. Le Jardin Maore hotel is facing the beach and serves buffet dinners right on the sand within steps of the water.
