Menorca: Naveta des Tudons

Menorca is jam-packed with megalithic tombs and structures, and one of the most famous is Naveta des Tudons. This megalithic structure is a collective funerary tomb, dating from the pre-Talaiotic period (around 1400–1200 BC, with use continuing until about 750 BC). It resembles an upside-down boat (hence the name “naveta” or “boat” in Catalan). Excavations in the 1950s–1960s revealed the remains of at least 100 individuals, along with artifacts like bronze bracelets, bone buttons, and pottery. It’s considered one of the oldest fully preserved buildings in Europe and a symbol of Menorca’s Talayotic culture.
