Micronesia/Chuuk: Exploring the Weno Island
Weno is the main island of Chuuk state of Micronesia and the capital is here. Nearly 14 thousand people live here, the only airport is here, the government is all here, and so on. And to be honest – it’s one of the most depressing islands in the pacific, devoid of many worthy attraction, roads are in decrepit conditions, and trash all around – definitely the opposite of scenic – although there are some ok-looking churches and a couple sea views. The drive is super slow and painful to avoid all the potholes. The roads here supposedly have the biggest potholes in the Pacific and have never been repairs. The economy is entirely relied on payments from US Military and remittances, as well as some tourists who come here to dive WWII wrecks.
