Mongolia: Sum Huh Burd Stone Fortress
In the heartof the Baga Gazryn Chuluu reserve in northern Gobi desert is a unique oasis and remains of a stone fortress called Sum Huh Burd. The fortress was built in the early 16th century by the Chinese and is an amazing example of construction out of layered rocks without any cement or nails. Rock shields are perfectly calibrated to fit together tightly. The fortress is facing an oasis with a lake and springs.
