Montenegro: Cetinje
Founded in 15th century, the town of Cetinje served as the capital of Montenegro for a long time, until the capital was moved to Podgorica. Major attractions here is the massive Cetinje Monastery with early Christian relics and frescoes. The monastery was the seat of the prince-bishops aka vladike, theocratic rulers of Montenegro from 1516 to 1851. This was the edge of the Ottoman Empire and constantly under attack. Another attraction here is the 15th century Vlah Church.
