Morocco: Agadir – Agadir Oufella
The Agadir Kasbah aka Agadir Oufella is a historic fortress located on a hilltop overlooking the city of Agadir and the Atlantic Ocean. The original Kasbah was built in 1572 by the Saadian Sultan Abdallah al-Ghalib to protect the city from invasions. A devastating earthquake in 1960 destroyed much of the Kasbah, along with the city of Agadir. The Kasbah’s walls and some of its original structures still stand, showcasing traditional Moroccan military architecture. The site offers panoramic views of Agadir and the Atlantic Ocean.
