Morocco: Rabat – Mausoleum of Mohammed V
The Mausoleum of Mohammed V preserves the tombs of the king of Morocco and his two sons, Hassan II (who became the king after Mohammed) and Prince Abdallah. The building is located across the historic Hassan Tower and the ruins of an ancient mosque (which is currently under restoration). The ornate Mausoleum has Royal guards and very elaborate Moroccan decoration and lavish gold accents on the snow-white mosaic-rich marble covered by sparkling-green tiled roof. The ancient imperial city walls surround the square, a place of huge historic significance in Morocco.
