Morocco: Chefchaouen

Chefchaouen (good luck pronouncing this) is a total gem of a town located in the far north of Morocco high in the Rif mountain range. The city was established in 1471 and has developed a tradition of painting the houses in white and blue. The town lies on step mountain slopes and every street is a climb up loaded with stairs. Everything here is a like in a fairy tale – every step of every stair, every window, every doorway, every house is bright blue color – you almost want to pinch yourself to confirm you are not in the Alive in Wonderland reality.
