Myanmar: Inle Lake – Inle Fishermen
Inle Lake is famous for its fishermen with their unique fishing technique and the way they move around the lake. They stand on the edge of the boat with an ore tied to one leg and propel themselves with one leg from one fishing spot to another. It’s real fishing acrobatics! (The lake is shallow and full of reeds so this way of paddling makes sense). Many use a cone-shapes net to trap the bottom feeding catfish (many varieties) and then spear them through the net. Of course posing for tourists at sunset brings more money then fishing.
