Myanmar: Kakku Pagodas

Myanmar has a lot of truly spectacular sights, but Kakku Pagodas were mindblowing. 2478 stupas stand close to each in a small space, most dating to the 3rd century BC! It’s truly surreal to roam among these stunning structures as their bell-tops ring in the wind. Many are originals and some are meticulously restored. The decoration, sculptures, ornaments and figurines are truly stunning and extend as far as the eye can see. The stupas span 2000 years of history and styles – some are elaborate and some are simple but the sheer amount of the them and state of preservation are beyond imaginations!
