Myanmar: Mandalay – Kuthodow Pagoda & World’s Biggest Book

Kuthodaw and the smaller Sandarmuni are two gold-domed pagodas at the foot of Mandalay Hill. What’s more interesting is that together they hold the world’s largest book. There are 729 kyauksagu (stupas with lathes slabs of marble stone with inscription on both side, each containing a marble slab with a page of text from the Tipitaka, the canonical book of Theravada Buddhism. The stupas are arranged in neat row surrounding the pagodas and interspersed with shady trees.
