Myanmar: Old Town Yangon

The British built the city as a grid. While the wide promenades and parks still retain the grand feel (albeit faded), a few steps onto the narrow streets of the grid reveal a different Yangon – gritty, crowded, melting pot of Asian cultures and religions. The buildings are densely overpopulated with myriads of satellite antennas poking out, temples and pagodas mix with mosques and churches, and the entire architecture looks as if stuck in a 100 years time warp – crumbling, fading, dilapidated, and yet still starkly beautiful
