Nepal: Kathmandu – Durbar Square (Revisited)
Historically speaking, the Durbar Square in Kathmandu is the top attraction in the entire country – temples and palaces graces this central location in Kathmandu since the 3rd century. In the Middle Ages, Malla King dynasty and later Shah dynasty ruled from here. The architecture of the temples is mindblowing – with all the wood carving, statues, temple decoration, goddess figures – you don’t know what to even concentrate on. The square is a living museum with temples like Taleju Temple, Kumari Ghar, and historic structures like the Basantapur Tower. But this is also the heart of a big city – with crazy and hectic atmosphere or people, incense, pilgrims, pigeons, and food. It is absolute sensory overload in this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
