New Zealand: Kahurungi NP – Oparara Basin Arches
Kahurangi National Park lies on the northwestern side of the South Island of New Zealand and preserves a varied landscape of mountains, limestone outcrops, caves and arches. The most visited part is the Oparara Basin Arches, where a trail leads past beech and podocarp forest to spectacular limestone overhands and tunnels over the Oparara River. Oparara Arch is massive – 219 m/719 ft long, 79 m/260 ft wide, and 43 m/141 ft high, and you can descend underneath it all.
