New Zealand: Nugget Point

Nugget Point and the lighthouse on its top is perhaps the most picturesque lighthouse in the world – at the end of a high rocky point standing at the top with a few of several little islets beneath you. The lighthouse dates back to 1869, and was powered by a small oil lamp – it’s now all automated. After enjoying the lighthouse and the views, you can descend down to an equally spectacular beach on the eastern side of the headland.
