New Zealand: Otago Peninsula – Tairora Head Royal Albatross Center
Taiaroa Head is a headland jutting out at the very end of the Otago Peninsula. The place has immense scenic beauty and there is an old lighthouse built here in 1864. Equally important, a colony of about 100 Northern Royal Albatrosses is protected at the very tip of the peninsula – this is the only albatross colony known to exist on inhabited mainland.
