New Zealand: Waitangi Treaty Grounds – Cultural Show
At the Waitangi Treaty Grounds, you can witness a cultural show of the Maori people. Maori or their descendants identifying themselves as such constitute around 17% of the New Zealand’s population (some counties on the North Island have areas as high as 52% and the Bay of Islands is around 36%. Maori language is the national language of New Zealand and the Maori culture is cherished and celebrated in the country. Maori came from the Eastern pacific (Polynesia) and developed independently with a vibrant set of cultural traditions and customs, often in conflict with the Europeans that arrived in the 18th century. The cultural show at Waitangi was spectacular with a lot of warrior dancing, juggling, singing, and warrior shouts and scary faces galore.
