Nicaragua: Granada
Granada was established in 1524 by Fransicso Cordoba (coincidentally the name of the Nicaraguan currency is cordoba) as the first European colonial city on the mainland America. Laid out in a set of squares and courts, it resembles Moorish Andalusian towns in Spain. Granada preserves some of the finest examples of colonial architecture and multiple very ornate churches, including Iglesia de La Merced, Iglesia de Xalteva, Convento de San Francisco, Convento de San Francisco, and more
