Nicaragua: Leon – Revolutionary Murals
Leon is not just a pretty colonial town but was a location of the events and spirits of the Sandinista revolution. Practically all empty walls are decorated with murals about La Revolucion, it’s leaders, and “martyrs”. There is also a revolutionary museum with more portraits and paintings as well as pictures of Daniel Ortega and Hugo Chavez. When the guide in the museum asked me where I was from and I said Belarus, he got excited and nodded in approval. I didn’t know if I should laugh or cry.
