Nicaragua: Masaya
Masaya gets much less attention than the other two colonial gems of Nicaragua, Leon and Granada, which is a shame. The town dates back to 1524 when it was conquered and renamed by Spanish conquistadors. The town center has several large plazas with beautiful baroque churches next to them – Iglesia de la Asunción, Iglesia San Jerónimo, and Iglesia San Sebastián.
