Norway: Flamsbana Railroad
The Flamsbana Railroad is the world’s steepest standard gauge line and takes the visitors up for close views of the Aurlandsfjord’s most spectacular scenery of towering snow-capped mountains and tumbling waterfalls. This railroad runs for 20 km / 13 miles and is an engineering marvel of many tunnels and switchbacks – 10 stations, 20 tunnels, and 1 bridge – all explored at a gradient of 5.5 percent.
