Oman: Bahla Fort
Bahla Fort is another spectacularly restored fort in the central mountainous region of Oman, at the foot of Jebel Akhdar mountain range. Made from whitish clay, this fort is massive and sprawling and exhibits typical Omani style. In fact, a lot of actual residential houses in Oman resemble mini forts of sorts. Bahla Fort was build in the 13th century to protect the nearby date and fig oases. Most of the massive fortifications date to the mid 17th century. The fort’s wall is the third longest fortress wall in the world. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage site.
