Oman: Sur
The town of Sur lies in the southeast corner of Oman, it’s all about fishing and traditional wooden dhow ship building. The city dates back to the 6th century AD, when it was established for trading with East Africa. The ships built here famously sailed to ancient India, Zanzibar, Iraq, and China. A lot of attractions here – Bilad Sur Castle, Al-Sunaysilah Castle, Bilad Lighthouse, Al Ayjah Castle, and half a dozen watchtowers dotting all the coastal cliffs.
