Pakistan: Attabad Lake
Attabad Lake is a tru gem along the Karakorum Highway with strikingly turquoise water and panoramic mountain-scape views all around. It was formed in January 2010 after a massive landslide in Attabad village blocked the Hunza River, creating a natural dam. The lake is 14 km long, 109 me deep, and sits at an altitude of 2,559 m (8,396 ft). It’s surrounded by the Karakoram Range, offering dramatic views of peaks like Rakaposhi and Passu Cones, and has become a major tourist destination despite its tragic origins. Boat and watercraft large and small plough the beautiful water and without venturing out onto the blues of Attabad Lake, you can’t really say you’ve visited Pakistan!
