Pakistan: Lahore Walled City
The old town of Lahore is a dense labyrinth of streets and building surrounded by ancient walls and gates. Most of the construction happened during the Mughal era, but the settlement dates back over 2000 years. Some of the streets are so narrow that they are nearly shoulder-wide and the sun hardly gets down here. It’s a living and breathing town full of residents, merchants, and markets. Then add tuk tuks, motorcycles, pedestrians, and donkey carts – and you need to stay super alert not to be hit or get lost in all this.
