Pakistan: Shalimar Gardens in Lahore
Shalimar Gardens are 17th century Persian gardens built in 1641 by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage site. The gardens are enclosed by brick walls with corner towers. Inside are wide passageways with fountains and blooming flowers over three descending terraces. It’s a beautiful green respite away from a dusty and noisy city life outside.
