Palau: Ngarchelong Japanese Lighthouse Ruins
Located at the northernmost tip of Babeldaob Island, this is the most famous lighthouse ruin in Palau. The site features the remains of the concrete tower and its surrounding operations buildings – it was heavily bombed by American forces in 1944. The original lighthouse was build on a 360 degree roaring platform, doubling a military observation point. The Japanese control Palau and a big chunk of the Pacific during th Japanese South Seas Mandate between 1914–1944.
