Palestibe: Bethlehem – Milk Grotto & Shepherds’ Fields
Seems like in Bethlehem every rock, tree, dust, cave, and building is somehow associated with Jesus. Shepherds fields – rocky dry hills where some shepherds were peacefully minding their sheep business when angels descended and politely informed then about Jesus’s birth (the first episode of paranormal activity in history?). Just a few streets away is Milk Grotto, a cave and now a church where supposedly Mary was breast feeding Jesus and dropped a few milk drops on the ground of the cave and the cave turned white (or was it chalk already?). Many pilgrims try to scrape the white chalk of the walls and either lick it straight or dilute with water.
