Papua New Guinea: Cruising the Byron Strait

The Byron Strait divides the Hannover Island and New Ireland archipelago and is deep enough for large vessels. There are dozens if not hundreds of small and medium sized islands dotting the strait, most are remnants of the uplifted coral reefs. As the ship cruised, a spectacular of tropical islands unfolded in all directions, many with beautiful white sand beaches and swaying coconut palm groves.
