Papua New Guinea: Madang – Bilbil Tribe Singsing

The Bilbil people live along the coastline southeast from Manang. They used to live on an offshore island called Bilbil but the small island got overpopulated and the people moved to the mainland, there are around 2500 people in the tribe today. The people still preserve their traditions and we were treated to a spectacular singsing (cultural dance performance) – men and women dressed in costumes of pandanus palm and flowers and all wearing elaborate and massive head decorations made with different feathers, as well as beads and necklaces made of shells and pig tusks. Dancing and singing was absolutely awesome!
