Papua New Guinea: Pigeon Island off Rabaul
Just outside the Rabaul caldera but with a great view of the volcanos lies a tiny Pigeon Island – a small speck of idyllic white sand beaches, lots of coconut palms, surrounded by a spectacular coral reef. Also, there are three species of endemic skinks, and an endemic royal pigeon. And some spectacular snorkeling along a reef wall off Pigeon Island. A moderate current keeps the water clear and the coral healthy.
