Papua New Guinea: Rabaul – Kokopo Museum
After the town of Rabaul was destroyed and the provincial capital was moved to Kokopo to the south, the local historical museum was established in Kokopo. Here, one can find a vast collection of the Japanese military remains – tanks, planes, bombs, mines, torpedos, etc. Inside the buildings, the museum features a diverse collection of artifacts, photographs, and exhibits most related to WWII and the area. There are also traditional masks and tribal art, some absolutely humongous in size.
