Papua New Guinea: Sepik River – Common Spotted Cuscus
The villagers in the Kopar village showed us their pet – a rare and endemic Papua New Guinean marsupial – common spotted cuscus. The strange white and brown spotted animal is the size of a cat, it’s endemic to lowland mangrove jungles of PNG, they are nocturnal and very shy and elusive. They feed on everything from nectar to fruits to leaves to worms and beetles. The little animal was super cute and adorable, although it’s no very clear it’s kept as a pet and not for meal.
